A BC Husband's Perspective

I’ve been a BC husband for the past 14 years, nearly as long as my wonderful marriage of 15 years to Tami, and after experiencing BeautiControl for so long I’ve never understood why women who desire their own businesses do not try BeautiControl.Unlike so many other businesses where the start-up costs are astronomical and unrecoverable, and the training and support minimal, BeautiControl costs just a few hundred dollars to join, and the training and support is top-notch (especially in Tami’s unit!). The worst that can happen is to conduct a couple of spas to make the investment back, or use the initial product personally or give to family and friends. The best that can happen is a thriving business that provides women with full-time income on part-time, flexible hours; great rewards such as bonuses, trips (I’ve been to Hawaii and Costa Rica), jewelry, cars (Tam earned a Mustang convertible free-and-clear), flat screens (we have a 42-incher) - you name it; exciting conventions in Dallas (all BC husbands should go); and, probably best of all - I believe Tami would say - the opportunity to establish new friendships with other women and helping women establish a business of their own.And understand, husbands or boyfriends, BeautiControl isn’t some kind of get-rich-quick pyramid scheme where you may loose thousands of dollars, and only the people at the top of the pyramid make money. Again, the monetary investment is minimal and easily made back – and then some – and each person in BeautiControl has an equal chance of making it to the top. Even better, watch your wife or girlfriend grow in ways you could never imagine, and if something happens to you, she has a source of income to rely on. As I write this, BeautiControl is supporting us due to me being downsized a few weeks ago.I’m not saying it’s all peaches and cream. As with all businesses, commitment, persistence, and hard work are required to make it happen. And Tam has her good days and bad days, just like every other business owner. But believe me, she is much happier running her own business than she was when she was part of the workforce as a teacher. She’s in control of her actions, rather than having her strings pulled by someone else.I’m just so frustrated that people can’t see such a great business opportunity staring them in the face, so I had to say something about it. And these are my own thoughts. I didn’t seek Tam’s input. I wanted to let everyone know what BeautiControl is all about in as straightforward a language as possible, hopefully with the result that others will seize such an excellent opportunity.Tim Ledford

My ATM

Yes, BC Spa is my ATM, my Any Time Money! I love that even in these tough times, I have a product that is so desirable and so impactful, women want it! My spa sales are HIGHER now than they've ever been and it's because of these fabulous skincare products from which women see and feel an immediate improvement. Plus, in a group situation (BC Spa), their girlfriends and family give them raving feed-back when they see the results; so, of course, the guest wants to take home the products that created those kinds of reactions!

My best selling package right now is what I call my "BFF Facial". I got the name from Shelly Callahan at Celebration last Summer. I always say, when you see the results, this will be your Best Friend Forever! I make sure to demo the complete set on the hostess (or her mom, if the hostess is really young). The set includes Microderm Abrasion and Buffer, TFF Face Creme, and an Eye Creme (usually Platinum Plus or Overnight Eye Capsules). I sell the set for $143.00 and I sell at least one at every spa now.

I'm also having all the guests try the Microderm Abrasion on half thier face, or the TFF on half. Then, we observe each guest and point out the improvements we see after the treatments.

We will be getting a new "chemical peel" treatment soon (Thanks, Gary!) and it looks like it will be a product that will be easier to demo in our BC Spa situation. At that point, I will feature all three of the Top Three Most Requested Spa Treatments: MDA, Chemical Peel, and TFF.

Our Spa needs to focus on skincare. The relaxation is nice, but doesn't create the "wow" effect that we want our clients to experience. If we're just a one-night stand spa-girl who doesn't create the desire for a longer term relationship, then we're doing our clients a disservice and cheating ourselves of a prosperous business.

Work smarter in 2009! Boost your sales volume by tweaking your spa just a bit and building clients who will return to you over and over for skincare that they absolutely will NOT be without!

Cruise was FUN!

Wow - BeautiControl is so good to us! I enjoyed a 4 day get-away to the Bahamas, complements of BeautiControl last week. While the weather was pretty chilly, I thoroughly enjoyed the warmth of all my BC friends: especially Pam Riley, Freida Lynn, Richard Ryan, Karen Westfall, and many new friends, too.

We have what women need right now: escape from the stresses of our lives in this day and time AND the opportunity to earn extra income to take some of the financial pressures off the family!

I LOVE BC! Don't you?!

Success Meeting 2009

Congratulations to all the Ledford, Shepherd, and Goodrich consultants who joined us for Success 2009 in Worthington this past weekend. It really was a fabulous event! We were so honored to have Gary Jones, Vice President of Product Development and the Research Institute, visiting with us live! He feels like a personal friend now that we got to hang out with him for 2 days.

I think Alicia Hahn is living her fantasies, having gotten to pick up Gary from the airport and engage in casual conversation with him during that trip! That will be a long-remembered experience for her, I'm sure!

We were also privileged to have been visited by Dave Halverson, Group President of Tupperware North America (BC's Parent Company). He spoke to us about the strength of our company and our career plan as well as the importance of staying focused and engaged in our business on a daily basis in order to create as much success as we desire.

One of the highlights of the event was our Book-A-Thon on Saturday afternoon. There were 149 consultants in attendance and in 20 minutes we were able to book 212 Spas! Isn't that awesome?! I know some of those will be going onto our unit calendars - so that's exciting.

Chimene Ross challenged us to get truly connected with why we love BC - what's our most important reason we love BC? She said one of her leaders' answer was, "I love the woman I've become with BeautiControl and I'm excited about who I'll be years from now as I grow with this company." How beautifully stated! Secondly, re-define your "why". Why are you in this business? That reason effects the decisions you make about the daily activities you need to do. Attaching one particular household bill to your BC income will help you to stay focused. If you know your car payment or mortgage has to be paid with Spa Income, then you will be more committed. Chimene's last challenge was to decide today that this year, you will show up for work. If you worked for someone else and just hung out in the break room all morning drinking coffee, you wouldn't have that job for long! So, make yourself some work-orders and then go to work.

We had a fun, inspiring, empowering weekend. I know it was the boost many of us needed to get focused again and to re-connect with what we love about being business-owners.

Blessings to each of you for a Prosperous 2009!
